The new Sports Hub offers the perfect shared home ground for Walton Casuals Football Club, Walton & Hesham Football Club and Walton Athletics Club to all enjoy a state-of-the-art artificial surfacing system created by Slatter Estates Surfaces. Additionally, local clubs, sports teams and schools are benefiting massively from this new addition to the area.

Challenge

Slatter Estates Surfaces oversaw the construction of a 242-space car park, lit with floodlights and featuring an access road from Waterside Drive, as well as pedestrian walkways surfaced with macadam. Ancillary works were also delivered, including car park furniture, such as benches and lighting.

We understand the need to design a welcoming and safe environment for all visitors, whilst maintaining the excellent standards already set within the sports hub, and Slatter Estates Surfaces provided the experience and expertise to deliver the safe, durable and long-lasting solution for Xcel Sports Hub.

To minimise disruption to athletes and the local sports clubs and classes, work was carried out respectfully, regarding the training and class times. Our trusted experience, knowledge and strong relationships with our supply-chain, ensured we could offer Xcel Sports Hub a defined  and structured timeline, minimising disruption all users.

Ben O’Connor, Pre-Construction Manager, and Peter Fowler, Contracts Manager, have successfully led the Slatter Estates Surfaces team in completing a facility of superior quality.

Slatter Estates and Surfaces co-ordinated and worked well with both the Council’s asset management team and the Xcel Sports Hub’s principle contractor. They worked hard to fully address our requirements and were proactive throughout the project. The Council and the four resident clubs are all very proud of the facilities created at the Xcel Sports Hub and we look forward to enjoying them for many years to come.
